4-H Positive Youth Development

Welcome! We’re glad you’re here.

Waushara County 4‑H is where youth discover their spark, build leadership skills, and learn by doing. As part of Extension’s Positive Youth Development Institute, we place youth leadership at the center of all we do—supported by caring adults, 4‑H clubs, and strong community partners.

4‑H is the nation’s largest youth development organization, reaching millions of young people across the country. Guided by the four H’s—head, heart, hands, and health—4‑H helps youth develop life skills such as problem solving, decision‑making, communication, and healthy living.

At the heart of 4‑H is project‑based learning. Youth explore their interests, or “sparks,” through hands‑on projects that create meaningful, memorable learning experiences. Since the early 1900s, 4‑H has believed in learning by doing—helping youth understand not just how to do something, but why it matters.

Most youth begin their 4‑H journey in a 4‑H club, where they build friendships, practice leadership, and make their voices heard. Clubs meet in a variety of settings to support youth where they are and connect them to opportunities such as camps, workshops, educational travel, and community service. Locally and nationwide, 4‑H puts YOUth at the center of everything we do.
